Purpose of the Obsolescence Report:The purpose of this report is to notify buyers and planners how long a particular part is valid. This report also provides the amount of day and weeks that are left on the part to give buyers and planners a good visual representation of the current situation. This report is tied in with lead time because if a part is approaching obsolescence it will flag the buyers and planners by saying “Obsolescence Approaching”. It also lets you know when a specific part is still valid for production by saying “Part Is Still Current”. Lastly this report informs buyers and planners when they have ignored obsolescence and reached a point where they must take immediate action by saying “Changes Should Have Occurred.” This report is great because if have many parts and they all have different life cycles, you can scan this report to see what’s still good and what needs to changed. |
